He replaces Cheryl Dolins, who left the studio in December. Disney’s 20th Television has a new top comedy executive. Long-time studio exec Chet Dave has been promoted to head the comedy division of the studio. Chet Dave, who will hold the senior VP comedy development title, will report to VP Development Carolyn Cassidy to be executed.

He will be charged with selling the studio’s comedy development strategy, identifying emerging writers, and charging projects ranging from pitch to series. “I’ve worked with Chet Dave for almost a decade and I know how passionate he is about making comedy and successful television,” Shetty said.

Since joining 20th TV in 2013, Dave has developed series including Fox’s The Last Man on Earth, ABC’s Fresh of the Boat, and Speechless as well as the upcoming Hulu entry Only Murders in the Building and Disney +’s Doggy Update is. Chet Dave replaced Cheryl Dolins, who left 20th TV in December amid a layoff as a result of the company’s reorganization.

20th Television is now being overseen by Kerry Burke, former president of ABC Entertainment, who was tapped to lead the studio in December as part of Disney’s efforts to prioritize content on its multiple platforms and break free from its legacy structure it was done.
