Sources say that Malia Obama has joined the writing staff for one of Glover’s first projects at Amazon. The ‘Atlanta’ star is also called a content channel on Prime Video. Donald Glover is moving forward.

Sources tell the Hollywood Reporter that Atlanta Multifinet has pulled out of its agreement with Disney-owned FX for several years, an eight-figure overall deal with Amazon. It is believed that the agreement includes a type of content channel that will highlight Glover’s work and other curated content on Amaz on’s Prime Video Hub. Additionally, Stephen Glover – who along with his brother wrote and produced on Atlanta – has also signed an overall agreement with Amazon Prime Video

The news comes a few days after Glover’s announcement that he and Phlegab will be making favorite Phoebe Waller-Bridge, with New Regency’s Brad Pitt-Angelina Jolie producing updates to feature Mr. and Mrs. Smith.

The Amazon deal, which has been in operation for weeks, will also see the execution of Glover producing other projects for retail giants and streamers.

Sources note that such a project is already starting to come together: a possible series called The Hive, rumored to be a Beyoncé-like figure from writer Jane Numbers (Watchmen, Away) and revolving around the stem. The project has already started staffing a writer’s room, according to sources Malia Obama is among those recruited to work in the series. (Additional details were not readily available; Amazon declined to comment on the Hive, too.)

Glover’s move to Amazon will not affect FX’s significant darling Atlanta. The award-winning comedy has already been renewed for seasons three and four and, per source, will begin production in March. Both seasons will be filmed back-to-back in a bid to return the comedy to the air as soon as possible.

The series aired in May 2018. The future of the show beyond season four is yet to be determined as it is said that a carving out should be done to continue work on Atlanta for something it wants to do.

The production schedule for Atlanta would also help clarify Glover’s schedule as he announced that Mr. and Mrs. Smith would arrive on Amazon in 2022. The gloves have been removed by WMEE.
