This marks a return to THR for James Hibberd, who was largely a recent editor at Entertainment Weekly. James Hibberd, an award-winning journalist who has been a pioneer in entertainment news for nearly two decades, is largely joining the Hollywood Reporter as a writer.
James Hibberd, who distinguishes himself with expert analysis, breaking news, and must-read profiles, will join the THR Covering genre television and films, providing continued, back-to-back coverage of the entertainment industry. It would be a comeback for Hibberd, who was once the TV editor at The Hollywood Reporter.
“James is an incredibly talented writer and reporter and I’m excited to have him back on The Hollywood Reporter,” said THR editorial director Nekesa Mumbi Moody. “With his great expertise of industry and strength in breaking news, he will be another great addition to our outstanding team, and continue THR’s tradition of expert reporting on the Hollywood business and the people who run it.”

Hibberd was most recently an editor at Entertainment Weekly, where he regularly scored with his coverage, including the Game of Thrones franchise. Last year, he released the book Agni Not Kill a Dragon: Game of Thrones and The Untold Story of the Epic Series. Hibberd is based in Austin, Texas. He will begin his new role on 8 March.
