Mahesh Bhatt Early Life

Mahesh Bhatt was born on 20 September 1948 to Nanabhai Bhatt and Shirin Mohammad Ali.

His father was a Hindu Nagar Brahmin while his mother was a Gujarati Muslim. His brother’s name is Mukesh Bhatt who is an Indian film producer.

Bhatt completed his schooling at Don Bosco High School, Matunga. While still in school, Mahesh started summer jobs to earn some money and also making product advertisements accordingly. Later, He met film director Raj Khosla through acquaintances and started a career as an assistant director to Khosla.

Biography

Mahesh Bhatt is an Indian film director, producer, and screenwriter who is well known for his exclusive works in Hindi cinema. His popular movie at an earlier period is Saaransh released in the year 1984.

This movie became India’s official entry for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film of the year. In 1986, he worked in the movie Naam was his first piece of commercial cinema. In the year 1987, he turned producer with the movie Kabzaa under the banner, “Vishesh Films”, with his sibling Mukesh Bhatt.

Some of his movies are such as Daddy (1989) and Swayam (1991), as well as commercial romantic hits like Aashiqui (1990), Awaargi (1990), and Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahin (1991), Sadak (1991), Sir (1993), Gumraah (1993) and Criminal (1994).

In 1994 Bhatt won the National Film Award – Special Jury Award for directing Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke (1993). In the year 1999, he directed the autobiographical Zakhm movie, which has garnered the Nargis Dutt Award for Best Feature Film on National Integration specifically. Besides that, He has produced contemporary movies such as Jism, Murder, and Woh Lamhe.
