The drama, led by Liv Schreiber, was abruptly canceled after seven years. Showtime is officially bringing back the canceled play for a one-off film that will bring a proper – and planned – closure to the drama starring Liv Scriber, which was abruptly canceled last year after seven seasons.
Schreyer will star as Ray’s father and daughter, with John Voight and Kerris Dorsey respectively. Filming will begin later this year in New York. The feature-length film will be written by Schreyer and Schröner David Hollander, with the latter set to be directed. Where will the film go except seven seasons?
Here’s how Showtime describes it: Mickey is in the air and Ray Donovan is determined to find and stop him before he causes any more massacres. It weaves together the Donovan / Sullivan fights, as well as the current event 30 years before the original story of Ray and Mickey.
After the February 2020 cancellation, Schreber wanted to talk to Hollander about the eighth season of his fixer drama. Season seven concludes in an installment co-written by Hollander and Schreiber.
Entertainment co-head Gary Levine said the show was nearing its end and was always intended to run “about seven or eight seasons”. The spread backlash came to an end after Ray Donovan’s cancellation of the film Farewell last year. Hollander was also open about the cancellation and noted that he was blindsided by the Wycombe-owned cabler’s decision to end the series.
Schreiber told fans on social media a week after demonetization that his “voices have been heard,” noting how or when to say it too soon, but with a little luck and your continued support, Ray Donovan will be more. ” Levin said in a statement on Wednesday, “When Ray Donovan went on our air after seven great seasons, we heard from many of our loyal fans that they were not ready to say goodbye to Ray and the surprisingly annoying Donovan clan Were.”
“And so, for them, we are delighted that Liv and David are creating an exciting new chapter of this iconic series.” A wrap-up film is not unheard of. Other series that came back with a closed film to wrap up their runs include Jugnu (Shanti), Breaking Bad (El Camino), Veron Mars (who was later). Revived as a limited series), Sense8 and transparent.
The film Ray Donovan is produced by Hollander, Schreiber, Mark Gordon, Brian Zarif, and Lou Fusaro. The news was announced on Wednesday as part of ViacomCBS’s Investors Day, largely focused on the rebranding of the steamer CBS All Access to Paramount.
