Berlin: Millennium Backs Horror Tale ‘The Piper’ (Exclusive)

Icelandic-style director Erlingur Thoroddson will do a deep re-imagining of the high-concept horror film, the Pied Piper7 story. Millennium Media is paying for Piper. Genre experts have come on board to produce the high-concept horror film, described as a deep reimagining of the Pied Piper story, and pitching the project to buyers in Berlin’s virtual European film market Used to be.

Icelandic director Erlingur Thoroddson, whose credits include Rift (2017), Child Eater (2016), and a segment of the 2016 horror anthology Patient Seven, will direct The Piper from his script. The film follows a young musician who is given the opportunity of a lifetime when he is tasked to finish the concert of his late mentor.

But she soon realizes that playing music produces fatalities, enabling her to awaken Madhuri’s disturbing origins and evil power: the pied piper. Millennium Media President Jeffrey Greenstein said, “Hummel’s piebald is excited to bring Piper’s story to life in a way never seen before.”

“Set in a rich world of orchestral music, the film will establish Piper as a terrifying horror icon whose tune will chill the backbone of audiences for ages to come.” Millennium Media’s Yariv Lerner, Jeffrey Greenstein, Jonathan Yunger, and Tanner Mbele are producing Bernard Kiara and Les Weldon the Piper. Millennium Media executive producers are Avi Lerner, Boaz Davidson, and Trevor Short.

The Millennium is best known for its action franchise, including The Expendables, Gerard Butler’s Fallen Series, and The Hitman’s Bodyguards with Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L. Jackson.

The sequel The Hitman Wife’s Bodyguard was set for release last year but has been delayed due to worldwide cinema lockdowns. Millennium debuted pre-sales at AFM last year on Has Fallen, the next night of the Has Fallen series, but has not yet set a date for the project to begin.

Instead, the company has shifted focus to smaller, incorporated projects that can be done under COVID-19 terms, including the Megan Fox horror-thriller Till Death, which took place last year at the Nu Boyana Studios in the Millennium in Bulgaria Was shooting. Erlingur is represented by Verve and BMK-ENT, and Myman Greenspan Fox Rosenberg Mobasser Younger and Light.
