Tom Holland to Star in Apple Mental Illness Anthology From Akiva Goldsman

The first season of ‘The Crowded Room’ will be based on Daniel Keyes’ biography “The Minds of Billy Milligan”. Apple is expanding its relationship with Tom Holland. The tech giant and streamer has tapped Cherry Starr to topline The Crowded Room, a 10-episode, straight-to-series anthology from writer Akiva Goldsman.

The anthology will explore the true and inspiring stories of those who struggled and learned to live successfully with mental illness. The first season of the anthology will be based on Daniel Keys’ biography, The Minds of Billy Milligan. Holland would star as Milligan, the first person to be acquitted of a crime due to a Multiple Personality Disorder (now known as a Dissociative Identity Disorder).

Crowded Room is a co-production between Apple’s recently launched in-house studio and New Regency. Goldsman (A Beautiful Mind, Star Trek: Picard) will produce through its Weed Roads production banner. Holland will also produce for AMJAG Productions and New Regency’s Arnone Milchan, Yariv Milchan, Michael Shaffer, and Alexandra Milchan.

Holland is playing the role of an Army vet suffering from PTSD in the Apple’s Russo brothers feature film, Cherry. He also reprises h is role as Peter Parker in Spider-Man: No Way Home and is set to uncheck for 2022. He is remodeled by WME and Sloane Offer.

Goldsman, who is named Russell Crowe-starrer A Beautiful Mind, works as a co-listener on Paramount +’s Star Trek: Picard and the upcoming Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. The Oscar winner is also teaming up with Amma Asante and Tiffany Haddish for a limited series, The Bardes Shop. He is remodeled by CAA and Hendon Jacobson.

For Apple, the crowded room marks the iPhone manufacturer’s latest star-studded TV forest. The company’s in-house studio Samuel L. Jackson’s vehicles The Last Days of Ptolemy Gray, the Sequel Masters of the Air from the Band of Brothers, and the Patricia Arquette starring the comedy High Desert, are among others, such as Apple-like their rivals. An ownership stake in its original content.
