TV Ratings: ‘This Is Us’ Tops Broadcast, CNN Leads Cable Tuesday

NBC drama increases slightly in total viewers from last week’s series.
NBC’s This Is Us led the broadcast network in primetime on Tuesday, while CNN attracted the largest viewers of the night on cable.

This is slightly lower than the total viewership of us (5.2 million) in the same series last week, which rose to 5.45 million on Tuesday. It has a rating of 1 week.9 among adults. Last week was essentially even with 1.01. Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist (2.66 million viewers, 0.46 in 18–49) dropped slightly from its premiere a week earlier and slightly improved by Nurse (2.6 million, 0.38).

The season premiere on The Resident on Fox received a 0.65 rating in the 18–49 demographic and 3.92 million viewers, close to the 2019–20 average of 0.73 and 4.07 million. The Prodigal Son (0.5, 2.34 million), however, opened well compared to a year earlier.

ABC and CBS aired the reunion in primetime, while The CW received modest ratings from season two of Two Sentence Horror Stories (0.11 to 18-49, 482,000 viewers) and the US premiere of Canadian Dramaster (0.09,441,000).

Cable led in major news demos of total viewers (3.92 million), adults 18–49 (0.63) and 25–54 (0.97). MSNBC was a close second in viewership with 3.81 million and was the No. 1 individual show on The Rachel Madavo Show (4.68 million). Fox News received an average of 2.95 million viewers.

Among non-news shows, History’s The Curse of Oak Island led primetime on the cable to both viewers (2.94 million) and adults 18–49 (0.56 ratings).
